Here is what parents have to say about our program.

Chase

Alison has tutored my son, Chase, in math and reading for the past year.  She is always prepared, and her lessons are structured and productive.  She is very patient and calm which creates a warm, welcoming environment conducive to learning.  She doesn’t get frustrated like me , when Chase doesn’t immediately understand a concept.  Instead, she takes the time to present the concept different ways until he understands it, even if it requires extra time.  She also teaches him math strategies to solve complex multi-step word problems.

Since tutoring, I have seen Chase’s confidence grow which has made a difference in his grades.  He enjoys his tutoring sessions which is a bid deal for a pre-teen who is indifferent to everything.
I can see that she truly cares and wants Chase to be successful!  She has shown this by answering my after-hour calls to help with homework when I couldn’t help him.  I could go on and on as there are so many positive things I could say, but I will end with saying that we are truly grateful and blessed to have Alison as Chase’s tutor.

Blossom and Chavalier

Ms Alison is a great teacher and she’s very knowledgeable. She is always assessing my children to see where they are and keeping them ahead. I’ve seen her use tools to work my kids so they can touch and see the work. Because she is so diligent in what she does my children are confident and loved learning now. Overall my children love Ms Alison and so do I!

Brooke and Bailey

We have worked with Ms. Alison for two years now and she has been an amazing resource for our girls. Not only does she tutor in math and reading, but she supports them in developing life skills that will no doubt have a major lasting impact on the rest of their lives.  She is impressive with her ability to connect to the root of the issue that prevents children from understanding lessons or retaining what they have learned.  She is strategic and uses effective tactics to tailor make plans for each student, to ensure the best results, according to the goals you have for your child.

While many parents are the best advocates for their child(ren), I've found that sometimes even parents don't always know the right or best questions to ask to obtain the results we desire in schools; depending on the issues our children face.  Ms. Alison offers the unique service of being a partner and advocate to aid parents in terms of, step by step consultations, helping to navigate student plans, or in joining forces to provide guidance for school discussions.  This is all due to her wealth of knowledge in navigating all levels of interventions from her extensive experience as a teacher and facilitator for these environments.

Her ability to address learning challenges with ease,  helps students build confidence, because the entire team now has a clear path and can see progress. This progress serves as encouragement to both students and parents, where students become eager to learn even more and parents are able to recognize the fullest potential of their children's learning abilities. We often tell her that she possesses the same gift that operated in the great Marva Collins.

My daughters know that Ms. Alison has high expectations for them, with a no non-sense but approachable demeanor and that inspires them to work hard on each assignment to ensure she is satisfied with their efforts.

We've been living in Texas 5 years now and wish we would have found Ms. Alison on day 1.  Despite what level your child is at, don't wait another day to schedule your session; you'll be so glad you did!

Heavin

My daughter Heavin has always been an A and B Honor Roll student but 4th grade took her for a loop and she really struggled with Math. As a parent you question if your child is not applying themselves or if they truly may have a challenge they are experiencing. For me, my daughter would come to me and express that she really wasn’t understanding and her progress report showed that. At her 5 week progress report she was scoring a 71% in Math. I immediately started researching what to do and decided the best thing for her would be tutoring.  I reached out to Gift Tutoring Service and Ms. Alison immediately responding to my inquiry and agreed to help my daughter get back on track. At first my daughter was reluctant to do tutoring as she thought it was for “not so smart” kids and would be boring. But I explained to her that nothing is wrong with additional learning opportunities. We went to our first tutoring session and Heavin was at first shy to answer questions as she is somewhat a perfectionist but by the end of the first session I saw confidence.  After 5 weeks of tutoring her report card read 87% in Math. I was shocked because in five (1) hour sessions Ms. Alison taught Heavin tools that she applied in class and on homework assignments. Ms. Alison worked with Heavin’s Math teacher to ensure they followed the curriculum that the class was working on. Ms. Alison didn’t make my daughter feel as if she was behind but told her real life experiences she had to endure as a child and that gave Heavin the confidence she needed to excel to higher limits.  I am so pleased with the professionalism and attention to my daughters needs. Heavin is now at an 93% per her last progress report. I highly recommend Gift Tutoring Services for all children that are looking to excel academically.
